Yorkshire Wedding Photographer Tom Roberts, of Champagne Shutter Photography, at Rise Hall
Having previously lived in Beverley for six years, it was such a pleasant surprise to discover Rise Hall, 10 miles to the east, near Skirlaugh and Kingswood, Hull, tucked away down a tree lined driveway, only to reveal the magnificent golden Grecian style columns supporting the portico above the grand entrance hall.
This awe-inspiring wedding venue has the feeling of a beautiful art gallery or museum, with polished floors and a jaw-dropping palette and décor throughout. It’s really a thrill for wedding photography!
The present Hall was built between 1815-’20. It served as a base for searchlight officers during WWII before use as a school from the later ‘40s to the ‘80s, then as a religious retreat until ’95. Bought by TV’s Sarah Beeny in 2001, she presented its restoration on Channel 4 in 2010, before selling it as a wedding venue in 2019.
Champagne Shutter Photography visited as a supplier at a Brides Up North wedding fayre. Rise Hall is one of 4 wedding venues with the Dine network, including Howsham Hall, near Malton, York and The Mansion at Roundhay Park, Leeds. Howsham is another stunning beauty - a gift to a wedding photographer - that I intend to visit and photograph – a Grade I listed Jacobean stately home built in 1610.
Rise Hall offers wedding packages for up to 180 guests and has 31 bedrooms/suites. Choose from Classic, Superior, or Premium Packages.

Just FYI - please note that today's photography was all iPhone snaps!
Grand history meets cosy log fire in the stunning library at Rise Hall - here the morning light streams in through the Grade II windows on the southern wing. Perfect for wedding photography, with book shelves as a backdrop, and spectrums casts by the prisms and crystals hanging in the window light...
