Is Goldsborough Hall Licensed for Legal Wedding Ceremonies?

Yes, Goldsborough Hall, sitting in 12 acres of grounds, is licensed for wedding ceremonies, both indoors and out, via Harrogate Register Office, whilst you can also opt for your chosen celebrant, beyond the legalities of a registrar, if you wish. The former is the legal marriage ceremony, whereby, once having booked Goldsborough Hall as your wedding venue, you go on to provisionally book a registrar, thereafter attending an appointment at the Harrogate Register Office to give notice.

How Many Guests Can We Have at Goldsborough Hall?

Historic houses are my favourite kind of venue! Chiefly, it's because they let out the little lad in me that liked to visit, leaving his parents behind to fantasise in a bay window that I was surveying my estate! Yes, I was a particular kind of child! However, Goldsborough Hall comes with none of the limitations of restricted guest numbers that venues of its kind sometimes suffer, with a staggering total of 5 options for ceremony spaces.

The Sir Richard Hutton Room can accommodate ceremonies and wedding breakfasts of up to 90 guests.

Princess Mary's Drawing Room can be set as a ceremony or evening reception space for 150 guests.

Owners of Goldsborough Hall for 20 years, Clare and Mark Oglesby, added the Orangery 9 years ago, able to accommodate ceremonies and wedding breakfasts of 110 guests.

For guest numbers of 250+ the south west facing terrace can accommodate a marquee (please see my YouTube video on Goldsborough for this detail). To my mind though, subjectively I admit, it would be a shame not to immerse your day in the grandeur of the hall itself.

Outdoor ceremony options are available on the south facing lawn, with no shortage of indoor contingency options to eliminate anxieties about wet or windy weather eventualities.

St. Mary's Church, adjacent to Goldsborough Hall, with it's own private connecting gate, gives you to option of a church service ceremony for 120 guests.

The Jacobean Library, adjacent to the bar and Princess Mary's Drawing Room, offers an afternoon and evening drinks reception capacity of 90. Speaking of lack of restrictions at Goldsborough Hall, the design and placement of the bar is a huge boon, meaning nobody props it up, rather than mingling with other guests in either the library or drawing room. The library's wood panelling and restored ceilings are the perfect opportunity for Champagne Shutter Photography's signature twilight images! Guests can enter a password-protected gallery to access and order social media downloads, prints, and wall art, from canvas, to framed, acrylic or metal prints

Couples can opt for two photographers – a second photographer is important if you want to cover more candid photos of friends during afternoon and evening receptions, when I am occupied with portraits elsewhere, and if you want to cover both of your preparations ahead of the ceremony
