On their wedding day, Gabriella & Claire opted to stay and have bridal preparation at an AirBNB just up the hill from the Town Hall, on Wood End.

"Wow! Witchcraft! I wish you'd been our wedding photographer!" Francesca, sister of the bride, might have previously been wondering what I was doing as I carefully and respectfully up-ended the Air BnB's TV for a reflective surface! (Another image of the rings above).

This bubbly lot didn't need much directing, but it's worth a little instruction for a bridesmaid to say: "Ooo...we look like ABBA!" I keep hearing this cliché being tortured of "no awkward posing" - this was a direction of a couple of seconds from me, having already connected with everyone - it's not "documentary" but is totally worth it, and looks natural!

Told you they were bubbly! They carried on even after the fizz had fizzed!

Is Hebden Bridge Town Hall Licensed for Legal Wedding Ceremonies?

This might sound like a daft question, but unlike other town halls, Hebden Bridge is an independent charitable entity and is not a register office. Registrars must be booked separately through Calderdale. Nevertheless, the Town Hall does have three licensed ceremony rooms for weddings and civil partnerships: The Council Chamber, The Terrace Room, and The Waterfront Hall (Gabriella and Claire's choice, pictured later).

How Many Guests Can We Have at Hebden Bridge Town Hall?

Beyond the ceremony and reception spaces, the Town Hall boasts space for 2 - 120 guests, with adjoining courtyard and balcony areas overlooking Hebden Beck, before the confluence of the Rochdale Canal and River Calder. The courtyard overlooks the Hebden Old Packhorse Bridge in one direction, and Hebden Bridge Mill in the other, almost opposite. Evening receptions of up to 150 are held across the Waterfront Hall, bar, and courtyard.

The wedding team is led by Verity in Events, alongside Amber in Catering, on hand throughout planning, and your event.

Couple & Witnesses

An intimate ceremony for a couple plus two witnesses

Enjoy up to an hour in the Victorian Council, and use of the Terrace balcony for photos.

Including confetti for you and your guests, a bottle of prosecco, portable speaker and staff on hand throughout, all the details are covered so you can relax and enjoy your day. This small and sweet ceremony is perfect for those wanting to elope, and they can even provide witnesses on request.

One Hour Ceremony for up to 45 Guests

For larger numbers, choose from either the Council Chamber (30 guests) or the Terrace Room (45 guests) and enjoy use of the room and balcony for up to an hour. Ceremonies can also take place outside on the balcony.

After the legal part of your ceremony, relax on the Terrace Room balcony as your guests are served a prosecco toast, throw confetti and enjoy the view. Staff will be on hand to make sure that everything is perfect - and although they can’t control the weather, the Terrace Room is a wonderful spot for photos. Or wander to the nearby bridge.

Ceremonies in the Council Chamber may also use the Terrace Room after the register has been signed.

Four Hour Ceremonies for up to 45 Guests

For a ceremony with time to celebrate afterwards, choose from either the Council Chamber (30 guests), the Terrace Room (45 guests), or the Waterfront Hall (120 guests) and enjoy use of the room for up to 4 hours.

All four hour ceremonies come with a prosecco toast, confetti, and outside space for photographs. Ceremonies in the Council Chamber will use the Terrace Room after the register has been signed, whereas ceremonies in the Terrace Room and Waterfront Hall will continue after a room changeover.

Longer ceremonies are perfect if you’d like extra time to eat, drink, or dance with your guests, but don’t want a late night!

Day to Evening for up to 120 Guests

Enjoy a daytime ceremony and evening reception in the largest and most flexible space: the Waterfront Hall.

Ceremonies are limited to 120, but additional guests are welcome to celebrate with you afterwards. With full use of the courtyard, café seating and Waterfront Hall, you’ll have access to one of the best located outside spaces in Hebden Bridge, right next to river.

Two rounds of prosecco are included for your and your guests, as well as confetti, room changeovers, early access and many other extras, as well as having the event team on-hand to guide you from the beginning of your planning.

The Waterfront Hall works best for relaxed dining, and can be altered to fit your plans as the night goes on.

Evening receptions for up to 150, in the Waterfront Hall include a prosecco toast for each guest, use of the courtyard, café space and Hall, full bar service and much more.

They have an experienced and creative catering team that can provide hot and cold buffets that work brilliantly in the space, and can be adapted to your taste and guest requirements. The team will work with you and be on-hand to advise throughout the booking process.

The Waterfront Hall can be easily transformed into a dancefloor, and it’s the perfect space for a band, ceilidh, or even karaoke!

Receptions can be combined with a smaller ceremony in the Council Chamber or Terrace Room, or as the perfect celebration after a ceremony elsewhere.

Why Choose Champagne Shutter Photography?

I firmly believe in the right balance of being friendly, along with a professional eye for detail.  You are investing in expertise to ensure elegant heirlooms to keep forever after your wedding, but the best wedding photographs gain their elegance through your comfort with your wedding photographer, so that I can orchestrate the odd tweak, where needed, with no awkwardness.  That’s why I pay close attention to your bespoke plans in our consultations leading up to your wedding and ensure a pre-wedding photography session to further aid your comfort.  It’s from a genuine and authentic connection that the best wedding photography emerges.

With Tom at Champagne Shutter Photography, depending upon your chosen package, you can gain:

Unlimited coverage, usually circa 11 hours

From the curlers going in, to the party in full swing: preparation to dancing coverage, just beyond cake cut and first dance, including twilight couple’s portraits

Arrival to cover details and latter stages of preparation

Ceremony

Groups shots

Family shots

Couple portraits, inc. session at twilight, blue hour, sunset

Initial consultation meeting plus further planning consultation meeting to finalise your itinerary and requirements

Complimentary pre-wedding shoot (circa 2 & ½ hrs) to allow couples to get to know Tom’s approach, so you are comfortable in front of the lens prior to your wedding day – subject to mutually convenient date, (ideally but not exclusively mid-week) – provides photos for wedding save-the-dates, invites, website, or wall art

Skilled curation and editing of your online gallery (circa 600+ images on average)

Couple’s online gallery - download web resolution photos for online use, full resolution photos for prints & wall art orders – couples & family can “favourite” a selection of images to curate ideas for album design

Albums are available as either part of an integrated package or as an additional option later

Guests can enter a password-protected gallery to access and order social media downloads, prints, and wall art, from canvas, to framed, acrylic or metal prints

Couples can opt for two photographers – a second photographer is important if you want to cover more candid photos of friends during afternoon and evening receptions, when I am occupied with portraits elsewhere, and if you want to cover both of your preparations ahead of the ceremony

Every couple is different – and whilst it’s all well and good me extolling the virtues of what I think about portraying your day at a venue, we must make a genuine connection to tell your story!  Check out Champagne Shutter Photography’s approach here.
